Philippa Kennedy
Philippa Kennedy is a freelance journalist, broadcaster and media consultant.
She was editor of the trade 'bible' Press Gazette from 1998 till 2002 and
is now consultant editor and chair of the Regional Press Awards judging panel
and the annual Law for Journalists Conference run by the magazine. She
presented the media show - Media Brief - for BBC News 24 and BBC1 and a
three-part history of Fleet Street - Out of Print - for BBC Radio 4. A
product of the Daily Mirror training scheme, she worked for The
Sun for seven years as a reporter. She became the first woman news editor
on a national tabloid - the Daily Express - in 1986. She was later the
paper's chief feature writer and columnist. She also writes a column in
Women & Golf. She became a director of the London Press Club in 2001
and was elected its Deputy Chairman in 2003.
