Application for Membership

Membership of the London Press Club is open to all those who work for the press and broadcast media. This includes national and regional journalists, newspaper and magazine editors, TV and radio broadcasters, cartoonists, photographers, PR consultants, cultural attachés of foreign embassies, press historians and academics, and syndication agencies. As well as invitations to all the London Press Club's events, members receive a regular glossy magazine, Press News, have access to the Club's website and are entitled to join the Royal Commonwealth Society at a substantial discount. (See also About Us.)

Ordinary Member

Candidates must be actively engaged in journalistic or similar work as their principal professional activity and source of income. Candidates are requested to submit a short CV and copies of two examples of their recent work.

Group Member

This differs from Ordinary membership in that Candidate is already a paid-up current member of a recognised and accepted professional group and thus is entitled to a discount annual membership of the London Press Club. Groups currently recognised include National Union of Journalists, Chartered Institute of Journalists, British Guild of Travel Writers, Women in Journalism, Society of Women Writers & Journalists, Publicity Club of London, British Cartoonists' Association, The Media Society, British Society of Magazine Editors, Commonwealth Press Union, Foreign Press Association, Medical Journalists' Association, Sports Journalists' Association and the Birmingham Press Club.

Overseas Member

Journalists and others not based in the UK may also apply to join at the special reduced Overseas membership rate. Again a brief CV and copies of two examples of recent work should be submitted with the completed application form.

Student Member

The London Press Club is happy to consider applications from full-time students of journalism and similar areas of interest. Candidates should be able to supply proof of their student status and two examples of recent work.

Retired Member

Former journalists and similar media figures may apply to join in the normal way but at a reduced rate.

Lifetime Member

Lifetime membership is open to all who would prefer to make a one-off payment rather than renew their subscription every year.

Corporate Member

Corporate membership is open to any business, company or corporation with an interest in the press and broadcast media and includes 10 free Associate memberships and other benefits.
